In this lesson, you will review how to view attendance reports in Insights. This allows you to look in depth at your school attendance data.
Where to Start
When logged into Insights, go to the reporting tab on the navigation bar, and click on attendance.
Next you will choose the groups that you want to compare. You will first choose the term data you want to look at, and then choose your compare types.
These compare options will will break your student population into IEP, ELL, Cohort, etc. Every compare you choose will show as an additional bar graph when you execute the chart, allowing you to see side by side comparisons of that a data.
Your next option is to choose filter options. These filter options will limit the graph you create to only show a specific group of students. For example when looking at your whole school, if you filter for Gender>Males, you will only see male students. Filtering will allow you to look at smaller populations in your compare types.
The last option is to look at the scale of the chart. You will be able to decide how many levels you want your students broken into based on attendance percentage. You can set up to five levels here, and you can adjust the percentage ranges for those levels. To change the level, type into the boxes for each of the level's higher end, that will automatically change the next level's lower end value.
Take note that if you adjust the percentage ranges for your scale, the name of each level will need to be changed to match the new ranges.
After selecting the data you want to see, click on execute chart.
This will produce a bar graph based on the compare, filter, and scale optionsthat you set up, with the scale of the graph displayed underneath.
Clicking on a section of the graph will break down to a list of students within that section of the graph. You will be provided the information you searched for, as well as essential biographical data about the student.
If at any point you would like to save your search for future use, you can select "Save Chart" at the top of your screen next to your filter settings.
From here you can name your search, share it with other staff members, or save it to your homepage.
