Classify Data Points by Upload - Course Subjects

Choose Admin Tools and Classify Data Points from the sidebar menu. The number of assigned and unassigned courses are displayed.

Click on the Unassigned number to view the full course list. Courses can be classified through the upload feature or can be classified directly on the screen which is covered in a separate article (see the bottom of this article).

Click Download to open a csv file listing of all of the course codes on your schools transcripts.

Columns B, subject_core) and C (subject) contain the subject area classifications.

Enter/edit the data in columns B and C being careful not to change the column headers.

Insights only accepts certain entries, which are specific to your district. Your district's options can be found here. If both subject_core and subject are listed below, both are required in the csv. Any course codes not to be used by the system should be listed as Unclassified.

Once completed, save the file and leave it in csv format. Click Upload at the upper right. Choose the saved file and click Upload File.

If the upload is successful, you will see this message displayed.

If there are errors in the file, you will see one of the following messages:

Error message 1  file uploaded was not a csv file:

Error message 2  file uploaded contained errors, such as blanks or subjects not recognized by the system.

Click OK to see details on the errors, by row. The error messages describe the issue that prevented the row from loading. These messages should allow you to find and correct the errors

Once the errors are fixed, re-upload the file.
