The Virtual Data Wall allows users to upload assessment scores from any Excel spreadsheet type document (.csv, .xls, .xlsx,.txt).The uploaded results can then be used in the IOInsights Virtual Data Wall.Follow the steps below to manually upload assessment results.
Where to Start
After logging into Insights access the "Assessments" tab on the left, then the "Manage" page
Select the "+New" button on this page to begin your manual upload
Type in a title for your Assessment in the "Name" field
Make sure your assessment title is unique. Assessments with the same Name will be overwritten if multiple sets of scores are uploaded.
Select the School Year from the drop down menu
Check the "Enable Import" checkbox
Click the "Edit Sites" button and choose at least one site/grade level. For uploaded assessments this does not have to match the students as they will be matched via their unique identifier, either District or State ID.
"Open Import Template" button
The following window will appear. You have the option of importing all columns of your Excel or .csv file, or unchecking the "Import columns to assessment"(usually used in spreadsheets with many columns such as state assessment files)checkbox and manually add the values you wish to include to the Data Wall. Browse your hard drive for the file by clicking the "Select File" button
You must map the Student ID column to the correct type of ID, either District (local/OSIS) or State (SSID).
Below the Student Id column is linked to the column of the spreadsheet that contains the Student ID "B_District_Student_ID"
Under the "Score Column" drop down menus, choose the data to merge into the data wall. Each row corresponds to a column in your data file. If you chose to "Import columns to assessment" they will already be imported. If you unchecked that box, you will have to use the "+" to add a row, give it a Name, Score Type, and map it to the correct Score Column.
Select the "Score type" from the drop down menu. The options are Letter or Numeric.
See below the "Score Column" was linked to the column of the spreadsheet that contained the student scores "E_Scale_Score"
More scores can be added to the Data Wall, such as Common Core State Standard scores or scores to a part of the test. To do so click the "+" button on the top next to the exam name.
Link the values as done in the prior step. You can also drag and drop the placement of each score, as well as add subscores. To add a subscore, click the"+" button next to the "Parent thread." This will add a dropdown when in the Virtual Data Wall.
You can also drag and drop rows to change the order.
Once complete click the "Save" button at the top of the page.
You will be redirected to the following page to upload the test with the questions
Click the drop down menu to the right of "Edit" then import.
Browse your hard drive for the digital copy of the assessment.
Leave the browser open until you are notified that 100% of the file has been uploaded.
